A humanitarian, a motivator, a trend setter and a leader:
Ruchelle Thomas was born in a small city in Jamaica where she spent most of early childhood before migrating to the U.S as a teenage girl. She has always had a strong love for God, family and the community. Her passion for helping led to her early on pursuit of a career in the medical field as a Nurse and later accrued 17 years of experience in Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Hospice Care and Home Health Care. She is also a Legal Nurse Consultant and a Quality Care Consultant. She holds a certification as a certified Life-skills Coach and Instructor. Her education and experience in business growth and development landed her as a member of the National Association of Professional Women.
Ruchelle's passion in life is to help those most in need. As a savvy business owner, Ruchelle is often described as devoted, and hard working. Qualities which have proven invaluable in her quest to serve the underserved and underprivileged.
Ruchelle has indulged in the rewards of being a steward, through her Non-profit Organization called Helpers Health & Community Initiatives. The organization is geared towards helping poor and despaired communities locally and internationally. Her ventures include: Hope for Change banquets, medical mission trips, community development for clean water and covered feet.
Ruchelle is driven by two mottos - "You do not have to be the best at anything to be successful, you just have to work hard enough to succeed at it" and “In order to serve others, one must first recognize his or her existence as part of this whole human experience. This experience is incomplete until we learn to love and serve each other”
Behind the wheel:
Helpers’ vision can be imagined through the lens of this husband and wife duo, Ruchelle and Camar Williams. Their passion for community is shown through their diligent work throughout the years. It is not just in the big things they do, but also in the little things that make a difference. At one of the annual Hope for Change banquets, one of the guests was dressed in a full suit and tie but was wearing pants that were not exactly his size, as it was falling off of his waist. Mr. Williams took off his own belt and gave it to him to ensure he was properly attired and ready for the event.
This kind of compassion and love is what pushes this team to be a force to be reckoned with in the community. No expense is spared by this dynamic duo to ensure that quality, productivity, and love are shown and felt at all levels of the organization.
Ruchelle and Camar’s love of community has brought together the most amazing volunteers who selflessly donate their time and resources to make every moment working with Helpers count. From wardrobe, hair and makeup, and decor, to street feeding, catering, transportation, and much more, this team of volunteers continues to be the engine that moves this train. This is who we are. This is Helpers Health and Community Initiatives.
